2014 People’s Choice Awards red carpet preview: Is Taylor Swift best dressed

The 40th Annual People's Choice Awards will kick off the 2014 red carpet fashion and style season, and on Jan. 8, Hollywood’s talented fashionistas will show off this year’s best fashion trends. From who’s wearing whom and what, to who will make the best or worst dressed on the red carpet, fashion fans are looking forward to what’s hot and what’s not.

For fashion devotees, the People's Choice Awards are a fashion preview of the Golden Globes, the Screen Actors Guild Awards and ultimately, the Academy Awards.

The most charitable celebrity of 2013, Taylor Swift knows how to make a red carpet fashion statement. Last year we voted her the best dressed on the red carpet because she sent the “I’m fabulous” message out to ex-boyfriend Harry Styles in a plunging white Ralph Lauren gown and Christian Louboutin heels on the red carpet. The best dressed singer pulled her hair back to give us the full effect of her simple white gown. The blue earrings pop against the white dress and add a sophisticated, chic touch. That was not the first time Swift stunned on the People's Choice red carpet.
We adore the Grecian-style J. Mendel Spring 2011 dress that the singer rocked on the 2011 red carpet. She accessorized the chic, pleated dress with nude Prada heels and Neil Lane jewelry. Swift's simple look on the 2011 red carpet was just as elegant as the white Jenny Packham Resort 2010 dress she wore to the 2010 People's Choice Awards. Classic, chic and not too fussy, Swift accessorized the white look with Christian Louboutin heels.

This year, the star has no ex-boyfriend drama and is up for a Favorite Country Artist award. She is competing against The Band Perry, Blake Shelton, Carrie Underwood and Lady Antebellum. Our money is always on Swift, but Blake Shelton had a great year too.

When it comes to the red carpet however, our money is on Swift to make the best dressed list.
According to CBS News, this year’s People’s Choice Awards will be hosted by CBS' “2 Broke Girls” stars Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs.
